Gutters tend to be a neglected feature on many homes, but they play an integral role in your home’s protection and care. By diverting water out and away from the home, gutters protect your roof and foundation from water damage.

Our Prescription for Healthy Gutters

Healthy gutters contribute to a healthy home, so here’s our prescription to keep your gutters in tip-top shape:

  • Trim back overhanging branches. Not only can overhanging branches damage your roof, but they can easily contribute to clogged gutters thanks to falling leaves and other debris. They also provide easier access for critters and pests to infiltrate your gutters.
  • Schedule regular cleaning services. Regularly cleaning out your gutters can be an inconvenience, but completing this chore is much easier than dealing with the problems gutter neglect can cause. Leaving the job to the pros is even better, as they will keep an eye out for any other maintenance issues that come up as gutters age.
  • Consider covers or guards. Gutter covers or guards can be a helpful way to prevent your gutters from clogging up by blocking larger debris, like leaves and twigs, from settling in your gutters. However, it’s important to remember that these products are not cure-alls, and gutters will still need to be inspected and maintained even with these additions.
  • Don’t let leaks linger. If you notice a leak or another issue with your gutters, don’t let it linger. When gutters fail to divert water, water finds its way to your home, namely in the attic and foundation. Both can cause bigger problems, so repairing leaks right away is a good idea.
